Jacob's Pickle is one of my favorite spots for brunch! It is located on Amsterdam ave in the very quaint Upper West Side. Being an eastsider girl, I rarely travel to the Upper West, but when I do, I like to visit Jacob's Pickle.
Food
The food is delicious. Very similar to Bubby's but there are definitely more options and even larger portions. I didn't think they could serve that much food.
1) The pickles—they offer a variety of choices, however, they aren't the best pickles I've had. I don't know, the seasoning for me just wasn't right. They were solid, but not my favorite.
2) Chicken & pancakes = are absolutely delicious. The soft sweet pancake along with bacon bits and crunchy-tender fried chicken was just mouthwatering. I'm salivating as I am writing this. Don't even try to demolish this on your own. It's a beast. You'll need a partner in crime.
3) Mushroom biscuit & gravy—a very tasty and creamy dish. The creaminess of the gravy melted the biscuits with every bite. However, the biscuits were not as firm as I'd like. They were too crumbly and fell apart with every bite. It's definitely a different style of biscuits and I prefer them more firm but still soft. It is not to say that the biscuits & gravy weren't delicious because the are. It was more of a structural issue.
Don't be alarmed if you go straight into a severe food coma. Unless you have intense discipline, which you don't, it's inevitable that you will enter a deep food coma. And possibly pass the fuck out.

Price
Fairly well priced I'd say. For the amount of food you get, it's a great value, similar to Bubby's portions—maybe even more actually. I'd expect to pay around $25-35 per person after tax & tip.
Reservation
Unfortunately, they do not take reservations for brunch on weekends. The wait is fairly long, about an hour or so. Sometimes you can get lucky, but I'd come prepared and arrive an hour before the time you want to eat.
